Leadership
Leadership: I have consistently shown my dedication to providing a high-quality education for our students. My pragmatic approach to leadership has improved the Board’s relationship with the community, teachers, and students. Being a leader is being willing to make the hard decisions, knowing that some will not support that decision. I believe that good leadership is based on doing the right thing because it is the right thing to do. How do I determine what the right thing to do is? I spend hours researching the facts, the financial impact, and listening to the Community, Students, and Staff. I pride myself on making non emotional decisions based on the facts and what is in the best interest of the school for today, tomorrow, and the foreseeable future.
Quality Education
Quality Education: I support EVERY student’s right to access high-quality education. I showed this support by ensuring that we continue to offer and fund the diverse course offerings at Analy High School. We have a vast number of academic offerings and electives for our students to choose from. I am on record as saying that electives, after school programs (Sports, Music, Drama, ETC) are essential for students to find their passion. For many students these electives and after school programs is where they find their connection to the school community. This helps them become successful and connected.
I also support the broadening of our offerings and creating more of the CTE (Career Technical Education) Pathways for our students to flourish in. I was able to assist the district in securing a large grant from the CTE Foundation and I am continuing to work toward and seek alternative sources of funding for these Pathways.
Support for Teachers
Support for Teachers: I recognize that providing an excellent education requires recruiting and retaining qualified staff through competitive salaries. I have shown my commitment to this belief by helping the District and Teacher’s Union negotiate a fair and meaningful two-year contract. My main goal was to ensure that the negotiations were conducted positively, transparently, and respectfully. Adhering to this mindset led the District and Teacher’s Union to an agreement after only meeting three times.
Hometown Knowledge
Hometown Knowledge: I am a fifth generation West County Resident. My Grandfather was born in a farmhouse in Graton. My Mother was born in the old Palm Drive Hospital. My Grandparents owned an Apple Orchard off Lynch Road. My parents both worked for and retired from the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department. I say all of this to say that I am proud to live in the West County and I have a deep knowledge of the needs and history of it. I am rooted in the West County. I spent several years as a child living at the Sea Ranch (inside Gualala Point Regional Park) and attending Horicon Elementary School. Horicon is a small K-8 in the Northwest County. When I attended it had a total of 53 students. There were two other kids in my grade. I transferred to Brook Haven School about halfway through my 6th grade year. I attended Analy High School my freshman year before my parents moved and transferred me to Piner School in Santa Rosa.
I returned to Sebastopol after serving in the Military to raise my family. I have three daughters that all graduated from Analy.
Why Vote for Me?
Why Vote for Me? I bring leadership, business experience, budget management knowledge, and a commitment to open and direct communications with the Board. I am a process driven leader that is helping to create a more clear and effective process for the district. Our District needs stability, transparency, and the ability to plan for the ever-changing demographics of our beloved West County. I have already shown that I am the right candidate for this position, and I look forward to continuing to serve the students, teachers, and community of WSCUHD.
